Industry and Innovation excels at WNIE Live 2018

WNIE Live 2018 took place in the final week of September at the NEC in Birmingham and proved to offer a highly valuable event that attracted high-quality exhibitors and visitors alike.

Sharing Hall 1 with Sensors & Instrumentation, the UK's only national instrumentation exhibition, What's New in Electronics Live provided visitors with the opportunity to witness hundreds of new products, as well as a plethora of industry innovation in action.

Nowhere was this more evident than at the WNIE live hosted 'IPC Connected Factory eXchange (CFX) IIoT Experience'. In the UK debut of this event, the live line offered visitors the opportunity to see global equipment suppliers working with industry experts, showcasing the benefits of this world-wide Industrial IoT communication standard for assembly manufacturing.

Working alongside The Hermes Standard and The MTC (Manufacturing Technology Centre), live demonstrations of the IPC Connected Factory eXchange (CFX) line took place twice daily during the show. Showcasing the cloud based sharing facility of this pioneering standard, a live demo of CFX was also observed, in real time, by a group of 13 engineers located 6,000 miles away in Taiwan.

Some of the UK's best skills in soldering were on show at the hand soldering competition. The competition was well attended and worthy winner Przemyslaw Marszalek ultimately took first prize - a cash prize and an expenses paid trip to the IPC final in San Diego next year.

Female Leaders in Tech Everywhere (FLITE) hosted its networking lunch - which included stand-out keynote presentation by leadership expert Alison Reid -- "Confidence: How to have more of it so you can unleash your potential". Feedback from the event was extremely positive, with attendees commenting that they'd gained some valuable takeaways regarding their own confidence, as well as learning more about the aim of the FLITE group -- to promote and support females within the tech sector.

Also taking place alongside WNIE Live were the Embedded and EMC conferences, with attendees exposed to a comprehensive series of seminars and presentations on the very latest developments within the embedded and EMC sectors.

WNIE TV conducted a series of roundtable interviews on a range of topics including Brexit, IOT security and obsolesence - this are available to view on the WNIE TV youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCvhxf9VwFbbjFWRbLxoxKA

Feedback from exhibitors and visitors has been very positive with several companies experiencing major sales during the show.

Comments included:-

"it was great to network with others, and see such an attendance from the MTC."

"The easy access in/out of the hall, and the fact it is a 2 day event, means minimal disturbance to other business and makes it a "no-brainer".

"We had a 25 lead target which we exceeded. Definitely quality over quantity."

"Thank you for organizing a great event!"

"I am pleased to report that we were very satisfied with the enquires received at the show this year. The quality of the leads in particular was very good and we expect that our returns will have more than justified the expenditure."

Claire Saunders, Event Director commented:-

"The UK electronics and embedded sectors are still seen as global industry leaders, WNIE Live successfully delivered a platform for industry to come together and connect, learn and make key contacts. Supported by a wealth of exhibitors, although visitor numbers remained static the quality and level of business achieved continued to be high."

WNIE Live will return in 2019.
