David Lesperance, General Manager of Vitronics Soltec, sees a potentially strong year ahead in 2013 for the company, despite predictions for a flat electronics market. This will include the introduction of new machinery from the company. His statement follows:
"In Vitronics Soltec's 97-year history, we have seen our share of market fluctuations. Although the overall market for 2013 is forecasted to be flat with a slight uptick in the latter half, we will be focusing on driving and growing our business the best way we know- by being passionate about the success of our customers."
"We believe that there may be momentum for the electronics assembly capital goods market in 2013. First, we recognize the recent general upward trend in US and Asia PMI's; this has been a proven lead indicator for our business.
Second, assuming successful navigation past the "fiscal cliff" here in the US, much of the political uncertainty that clouded 2012 has subsided with the conclusions of major elections/transfers of power. This allows businesses to refocus, execute on plans that have been put on hold, and develop new plans. This should, in turn, drive additional capital investments. While Europe has a ways to go with sovereign debt issues, we are heartened by the resiliency of the Americas market and by strong select niches in Asia.
"To support our customers and remain a technological leader we will introduce a new selective soldering platform in 2013 as well as numerous updates to our reflow and wave platforms. We will continue to focus on and invest in our R&D and Service offerings in 2013- we will make new hires in our R&D, technology and product groups. Our expectation is that these investments as well as our focus and passion will continue to make both our customers and Vitronics Soltec successful."
