With the ever-increasing awareness of the importance of good environmental stewardship, and the simple fact that recycling usable materials makes good economic sense, more and more electronics manufacturers are recycling their metals waste. We expect to see this volume grow globally, because it makes less sense to pay to dispose of solder waste than it does to let someone else take it away for you and pay you for it. That's easy math! For years, people have predicted the demise of soldering. Newer and better ways to assemble SMT/PCBs will emerge, they've said. Printable conductive inks and polymers will replace old-fashioned soldering. But they haven't yet, and as circuit technology becomes more advanced and specialized, the variety of solder alloys available has increased manifold. Higher-power circuits demand the current-carrying capability of soldered connections. Every year new solder types are introduced to the industry by major solder suppliers. Soldering is here to stay. As a premier metals waste recycler serving the electronics manufacturing industry, we at Conecsus are building cooperative partnerships with solder and metals companies all intended to benefit the customer. Offering integrated ways to deal with used solder, dross, and other metals waste in conjunction with metals companies gives the customer a cradle-to-grave solution that makes life simpler, waste management easier, and helps everyone operate a little 'greener'. We expect this to continue.
