Arriving to Northern California for the Semicon West show, I had the opportunity to visit two Bay-Area companies which have expanded in 2010.
Juki Automation has seen significant growth in 2010 and recently moved into a new facility in Freemont. The new offices are 10,000 feet larger than their previous office to provide customers more capacity for applications, training and demonstrations.
Bob Black and Carols Eijansantos provided a tour of the new facility including the demo room running several applications for their pick & place and selective soldering customers.
I also visited FCT Assembly at their new open house in Milpitas. Mike Scimeca, President was hosting customers at their new facility focused on Fine Line Stencil and A-Laser technology. FCT Assembly has four major operations: Solder Paste & Chemistry, Stencil manufacturing, Precision Laser Cut Parts and Solder Dross & Recovery.
We met several members of his management team and all were excited about their new office and the opportunities to expand in Northern California. It’s good to see companies’ expanding as the industry continues to recover.
On a sad note, we also learned of the passing of Jim Trummer, CEO and President of Nextek in Huntsville, AL. Jim suffered a massive heart attack on July 2nd. The Company’s Board has named Jim’s co-founder, John Roberts, to lead the Company. We offer our condolences to the family.
