Kyzen's Rich Brooks to Present at SMTA Houston Expo & Tech Forum
NASHVILLE — Kyzen, the world leading provider of environmentally responsible precision cleaning products for electronics and high-technology manufacturing operations, announces that Rich Brooks will present a paper titled “Optimizing the Cleaning Process to Remove Flux Residues Under Low Profile Components” at the upcoming SMTA Houston Expo and Tech Forum, scheduled to take place Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Stafford Centre in Stafford, TX.
The complete cleaning and removal of flux /soil residues under low profile components is becoming more critical, especially as conductor spacings are decreasing and power is increasing. If the residues are not completely removed, the reliability of the circuit can be greatly affected. It is the combination of these technologies that make the cleaning process extremely difficult. Therefore, the cleaning process must be carefully examined and optimized to obtain maximum performance for removing the flux residues. The total cleaning process can be broken down into two subsets: the static cleaning rate and the dynamic cleaning rate.
The static cleaning rate is the thermodynamic forces’ ability to remove the residue or, in simpler terms, the cleaning agent’s ability to dissolve the flux residue. The dynamic cleaning rate involves kinetic forces to remove the residue. This includes the thermal energy and impingement energy required to remove the flux residue. This presentation will review cleaning problems resulting from the implementation of the latest technologies and explain how the cleaning process can be optimized to guarantee the reliability of the assemblies.
Richard Brooks holds degrees in both Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, and he has worked in the electronics industry for over 20 years. He began his employment at Motorola in 1988 and was a part of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Group. In 2009, Rich joined the Kyzen team as the Southwestern Regional Manager. Rich holds three US patents and is a recipient of the Six Sigma Statistical Black Belt Certification.
