Minneapolis, MN - The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) has established itself on several of the most well-known social media sites in an effort to connect with members and broaden its outreach in the electronics assembly industry. Using Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, and most recently Twitter, the SMTA has discovered a more personal realm to network and share knowledge.
"We are really excited about the new level this kind of technology will add to our events and our membership," commented Tom Forsythe, Kyzen Corporation and SMTA Vice President of Communications.
Recent updates to the SMTA home page include a Twitter feed, links to the different social media profiles, and a list of Facebook “friends”. The most exciting feature will be the ability to maintain a running dialogue during events like SMTA International via Twitter. Just referencing the tag #smtai09 in a “tweet” will be all it takes for anyone to join the conversation before, during, and after the conference.
