ITASCA, IL — Kester announces it will showcase EnviroMark 923 (EM923), a halogen-free, RoHS Compliant lead-free no-clean solder paste, in booth 1D30 at the upcoming NEPCON/EMT South China exhibition and conference - scheduled to take place August 26 - 29, 2008, at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, China.

EM923 a lead-free and halogen-free solder paste contains state-of-the-art advantages for high-reliability and low-defect assembly and solidifies Kester’s commitment to be the global benchmark in no-clean lead-free and halogen-free solder paste. EM923 has been developed with unique flux chemistry system which has no intentionally added halogens (Chlorine, Bromine) or halides and yet providing superior solderability as compared to conventional halogenated/ halide-based solder paste systems. EM923 has been tested and conforms to IEC 61249-2-21, IPC-4101B and JPCA-ES-01-2003 halogen-free requirements, with no chlorine and bromine detected.

Kester’s EM923 offers numerous advantages over other solder pastes such as ultra-low voiding characteristics, lighter flux residue color, shiny joints and excellent solderability on all typical component and board finishes, and easier residue penetration.

The lead-free paste also provides a net improvement over products currently available to the market today. Its excellent print characteristic to 0.4 mm pitch, stable tack and stencil life with long idle time between prints ensure a reduction in print defects and paste waste.

The enhanced chemistry in the flux provides the necessary cold and hot slump resistance that is essential in a lead-free reflow thermal profile. The improvements in chemistry reduce potential defects such as bridging, solder balls and tombstoning while delivering superior activity to ensure good solderability of all common lead-free finishes.
