BI Technologies Expands Family of Rotary Potentiometers
to Include Solder Lug Terminations

LAS VEGAS, NV - Providing design engineers with a termination method specifically designed for manual wire soldering, TT electronics BI Technologies has expanded its family of 12.7mm rotary potentiometers to include devices with solder lug leads. Designated the Model P261 potentiometer, the side-adjust device features up to six gangs and is available in potentiometer, rotary switch and detent modules.

"The solder lug leads facilitate consistent and reliable solder joints, while improving efficiency and preventing solder from overheating,"

said Richard Hsieh, director of product development for BI Technologies. "By adding this feature along with the four original Model P260 top- and side-adjust potentiometers, we are able to provide customers with a greater range of flexibility in their designs."

The elliptic holes on the solder lug leads measure 1.8mm x 1.0mm and fit wire sizes from AWG 20 to AWG 40.

Typical applications for the family of potentiometers include joysticks, musical instruments, industrial controls, position sensors and board mounted panel controls.

The Model P260 and Model P261 potentiometers feature a conductive plastic element, are sealed for contaminated environments and have a rotational life of 1,000,000 cycles.

Resistance ranges from 500ohms to 1Mohm, with power ratings of 0.25W and 0.5W. Standard tolerance is to ±10%, with a maximum input voltage of 350VAC and a dielectric strength of 1,500VAC. Operating temperature ranges from -55°C to +125°C.

Lead times for the Model P260 and P261 potentiometers are from 3 to 5 weeks.
