LITTLETON, MASS. - VJ Electronix, the leader in X-Ray inspection technology and Rework systems, announces that it has been awarded a 2008 SMT China Vision Award in the category of Rework & Repair for its Summit 2200 Advanced Rework Station. The award was presented to the company during an April 8, 2008 ceremony that took place at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition International Hotel during NEPCON China/EMT China.

The VJ Electronix Summit 2200 is engineered for the most demanding lead-free processes. Using many of the award winning and proven Summit 1800 components and processes, the 2200’s advanced features include:

New Automated Site Prep (scavenging) System ¾ This system allows fully automatic, component removal, non-contact site prep, and placement of components with minimum operator intervention, thus reducing the operator variability of a manual system and resulting in fewer scrap boards. The integration of the site prep system into the pick-and-place process results in fewer thermal cycles, faster cycle times and higher yields.

Wide Area Profile Storage Compatibility ¾ Using advanced network software, the Summit 2200 allows for central storage of processes and profiles. During runtime, the system checks for the most updated profile through the network and downloads the latest process file on demand or automatically. This allows a central process lab to always maintain and distribute the latest data globally.

New Bottom Heater and Motorized Table ¾ The Summit 2200 incorporates a 4.0 kW or a new 5.6 kW bottom heater designed for lead-free processes. Also new to this table design is the ability to have a bottom heater cooling boost that decreases cycle times and meets maximum time above liquidus constraints.

New Integrated Technical Documentation ¾ All manuals, help files, schematics and knowledgebase troubleshooting are imbedded in the SierraMate 7.0 application software. This allows operators and engineers to access all information about the machine locally. All GUI documentation, screens, help files and reports can be localized into native languages to ease in new operator learning.
